CBC Listen App revisa

Overall the design of the app is pretty good, and is relatively easy to find the shows you’re looking for. The downside though are the bugs that have persisted for years now without being addressed, despite how many times they are informed of them. The one that drives me nuts the most is how podcasts ignore the continuous playback option, so they will always play one to the next to the next forever. So if you cant reach your phone right away when the episode finishes, it will just load the next one regardless of whether you already heard it, and if like I do you tend to stop when theres a few seconds left, it will rapidly play the final seconds of dozens and dozens of episodes without stopping. Really dumb and annoying.

If you refuse to give this app access to your location data, it will count you as “international” and restrict some content. This reeks of the CRTC and their meddling, a familiar story. The live streams seem to still work, and you can select which region to listen to eg. Atlantic or Eastern. Quality seems stable and sounds very good to my ears.

I get all my news from CBC. They always have fresh, engaging, relevant and progressive-friendly content without annoying ads. The only quirk is I'm guessing unique to Alaska, which is an extra hour behind Yukon in the winter. Album art and captions are now out of sync with the radio audio by an hour. I'm not sure why and it would be nice to fix it but I guess it fixes itself in March again. Edit: looks like they fixed the glitch. Thank you. Now it's flawless.

I liked the older app far better ...now it’s just a disorganized mess.

I accidentally updated the CBC app on my iPad and now I can’t figure out how to send audio to my AirPlay devices. In the old app (pre October) it was right there with the playback controls. Is it missing? Is it moved? Unhappy. Update: CBC developers responded, it’s on the bottom of the full screen player. My experience is that sometimes the full screen player doesn’t scroll in landscape orientation on iPad and you can’t see the AirPlay option, but it’s always visible in portrait mode. Glad to have this working again, if sometimes just with a workaround, happy again.

I do not live the new version at all. I live change and improved navigation in updates, but I can’t find shows nearly as easily, and what happened to My Radio? Help!

PLEASE tell me how to hear Juli Nezrella. I live a few miles south of the border, love Ms Nezrella’s morning music as well as the background of performers. Do I need to pay? I will if necessary.

They wrecked something that worked just fine before. Now I can’t even listen to simple items like “World Report” in the morning. If you have not yet updated to this version - don’t! I now only listen to CBC using the older version on a different device. Leave good things alone! Or at least make them better and possible to use.

The CBC broke their app. Please give us the old app back!!!!!!!!!!!! Why would CBC delete functionalities from their app? I do not get it. I see nothing is this new version that is better than the last version.

Miss the live stream radio

CBC Radio had a great app until the newest upgrade. CBC Listen is a downgrade. You used to be able to filter episodes by topic. Maybe you still can but I can’t find how. I liked listening to shows about science. No idea how that is accomplished in the new app. The new app is clunky and confusing. I wish I could give it less that one star! Hopefully, whoever designed this new look gets shown the door. What a pack of losers.

I really liked the old layout because you could vertically scroll through the old random radio clips, but this one is just like the desktop PC version which I suppose is fine. The bigger problem is I lost all my saved and starred items to listen to in the future, it’ll be hard to go back and find what I wanted to listen to.

The latest update wiped out all the saved content and favourites. It took me a while to find anything besides the marquee shows (I finally found the World Report after 30 min of searching) The new version is pretty, but not user friendly

I would love if I could use this app for my clock radio, but the function doesn’t work — even if left in the forefront as required.

This used to be my favorite app. Since the most recent update it is constantly crashing. I hope this gets updated soon.

Trying to access most of the shows ends up in a crash. Did anyone even bother to test the app before throwing it on the App Store?

I like the app itself very much, but when streaming the live station CBC One, there is a constant popping sound that starts and stops intermittently, and that makes listening not so pleasant at all.

I've listened to CBC Radio 3 for more than a decade, that is up until now. Unfortunately, anyone situated outside of Canada aren't permitted to listen in anymore. I thought removing your unique and talented hosts Lana Gay and Grant Lawrence was really shooting yourselves in the foot, but this far exceeds my wildest expectations. Hopefully whoever has been in charge for the past few years gets replaced as soon as possible. Thanks for the music CBC Radio 3, you will be missed.

Why can I only listen to one version of Radio one and radio two? I also don't know how the live program relates to the online schedule.

I loved CBC 3. Past tense. Removing it from the CBC Radio app makes no sense to us down in the States since the CBC Music app is unavailable in Apple's U.S. app Store. Do you not want us to listen anymore? Booooo, eh?

This latest update for iPad crashes without ever opening after about 27 seconds. Very disappointed that I am unable to listen to my favorite CBC programs. Please fix it soon! I would give this app a zero rating if it were possible.

I have listened to cbc radio for 50+ yrs but now can't find a thing on this app. No search window could be the cause!!!! Come on cbc-go back to the old format; it worked.

I don't know how to find things yet. In the old version I could sort through and find a show easily. Maybe I have to learn some tricks in this version. 😵

While listening to CBC the other night, the sound on my iPad3 stopped working. I deleted the app and tried to reload but it is in limbo -- won't load and can't be deleted ... Only see a shell of an icon. Is it the app or my iPad? The sound for the earbuds work. Otherwise, I love listening to CBC as an American. As It Happens is my "go to" broadcast. The show is a five star and the app is a 1. Sorry.

No Radio 2 for International users. Had access before the last update.

Crashes every 5 minutes when attempting to live stream radio. The app on my old 3S is far more stable and reliable than the much-touted version for ios 8. Very disappointing when you're trying to follow consequential Canadian news from afar.

New update no longer lets me save favorite streams and stations. A major inconvenience!

I listen to several different Radio 1 streams, for the local content. The new update seems to make it impossible to bookmark favorite live streams in "My Radio", making it much more difficult to quickly switch between streams. The app apparently assumes that a listener will only make one choice for Radio 1 streams, and then never change.

YOU CHANGED THE ICON/ LOGO?! I'm VERY left-handed, and one trait of left-handedness is that we equate with icons and logos far more strongly than with text. The CBC Red-on-White logo is perhaps one of the world's most-widely recognized, so WHY would you feel compelled to change the app's icon to BLUE-ON-WHITE?! Also, the opening message from Jian Gomeshi touts "easier navigation". It took me several minutes just to figure out how to listen to Radio One, and I'm stlll not sure how I found it! There was NOTHING wrong with the previous version!

This is a great update that makes the app much more usable and looks a lot prettier. Also seems to be much more stable. But is there some kind of ban on pushing out the track names and artists in the live feed? I'm a Midwesterner from the U.S. who thinks CBC Radio 3 has the best shows and DJs who play the best music anywhere, but I can never re-find what I'm listening to unless I get lucky enough to hear the DJ chime in after the set! It's gotta be easy enough to show us track names and artists, no?

Horrible update. Programs now segmented and hard to find. Useless. I'll use tunein radio from now on instead.

This app is great!

On my iPhone 4 the latest version does not let me select individual programs. I have reloaded the app several times but the problem persists. Older versions worked well.

Not only is CBCs content excellent, but the CBC Radio app is very functional and easy to use. The one time I experienced a problem after an update, I reported it and the problem was fixed within a few days. Thanks CBC!

I used to enjoy listening to archived shows daily. Now, since the last update, that's not possible. The on-demand function is broken. No one responds when I try to contact the app designers. I cannot believe this is the best the CBC had to offer. Embarrassingly bad.

I've written to CBC and still no fix. The same problems as mentioned by others. C'mon either apple or CBC, do something.

This CBC App used to work very well but now there are major problems. I am now unable to hear the news on Radio One. What happened?????

Useless for on demands. Going to any program in the lists of on demand programs will only bring up the first program in the list. Unless I'm mistaken, there is no search for on demand, either.

The app looses connection and requires a full restart to work again. Usually quits about 15 times on a 1 hour bus ride. But I still use it for the content. Please fix the app!!!

New version is very buggy and will not work today. Says that I do not have a wi-if connection and then goes blank and locks up. Same for iPhone and iPad versions.

Always having issues - either won't open or stalls - also buttons are way too small for iPhone use

Had been a great app, but update doesn't work at all. Hopefully CBC's engineers will fix quickly.

Hourly News has CBC and a ton of other top-of-the-hour news podcasts that play with 1-tap. It's like podcasts for dummies, super easy and convenient
